Ramen Haven Brings Authentic Japanese Cuisine to Sudbury’s Meadow Walk

Sudbury’s dining scene is getting a flavorful new addition, and the timing couldn’t be better.

Ramen Haven, a highly anticipated Japanese restaurant, is officially opening its doors in the bustling Meadow Walk plaza. With a soft opening currently slated for late April and a grand opening set for late May, local foodies are in for a serious treat.

In a recent interview with Joe Ma of Ramen Haven, Sudbury Weekly got the full story.

Ramen Haven has operated a successful location in Berlin, which opened in 2025. But an aggressive expansion plan is already underway.

When scouting locations across the MetroWest area, the Ramen Haven team was drawn to Sudbury’s vibrant, engaged community. They observed that residents here have a proven appreciation for quality dining and thoughtfully designed spaces, making the town a natural fit.

But it was Meadow Walk’s unique “live-work-play” energy that sealed the deal.

“Meadow Walk stood out to us because it brings together residential living, shopping, and dining in one walkable destination,” Joe shared. “When we visited the area, we could immediately feel the energy of people gathering, spending time with family, and enjoying the neighborhood. It felt like the right place to introduce our ramen concept.”

A Refined Yet Welcoming Vibe
Ramen Haven aims to be more than just a quick lunch stop; it’s designed to be a neighborhood fixture. The restaurant will feature a modern, dark Japanese aesthetic softened by warm lighting, natural materials, and minimalist design elements.

Whether you are popping in for a solo lunch or settling into a booth for a family dinner, the goal is to provide a space that feels simultaneously refined and perfectly cozy.

While Ramen Haven offers an extensive menu of Japanese comfort food, the undisputed star of the show is the ramen. Guests can customize their experience by choosing from four signature soup bases: pork bone, chicken, seafood, and vegetable.

If it is your first time visiting, Joe said the Tonkotsu Ramen is the “must-order” dish. This signature bowl represents the absolute heart of authentic Japanese ramen. The secret? A rich, creamy pork bone broth that is painstakingly simmered for more than 10 hours to develop its deep flavor, then paired with fresh noodles and traditional toppings.

To cater to local tastes, Ramen Haven is bringing some exclusive location-specific specials to Sudbury:

  • Seafood Ramen Series: Elevate your bowl with luxurious additions like lobster or uni (sea urchin).
  • Wagyu Rice Bowls: A rich, savory option for those craving premium beef over perfectly steamed rice.
  • Robust Vegan Menu: Thoughtfully developed plant-based options that don’t compromise on traditional flavors.

Farm-to-Table Vision and Sustainability

Joe noted that community is important to Ramen Haven. “Our goal is to become a neighborhood restaurant where people feel comfortable gathering with friends and family.” Part of that community connection is a robust set of sustainable practices in the restaurant.

Ramen Haven isn’t just focused on what goes into the bowl; they are deeply invested in what happens afterward. Sustainability is a core pillar of their long-term vision.

Currently, an impressive 80% of the restaurant’s food waste is recycled into compost. But they are taking it a step further: Ramen Haven is actively working toward launching their own farm in nearby Berlin, MA, by the end of 2026. The goal is to use their compost to grow organic vegetables specifically for the restaurant, creating a true, zero-waste farm-to-table cycle.

Grand Opening Details & An Exclusive Reader Promo!

The wait is almost over. Construction is wrapping up, and Ramen Haven is currently planning a soft opening through at the end of April.

The official Grand Opening is slated for late May, featuring special promotions and opening celebrations to officially introduce the restaurant to the Sudbury community.

Tenant Spotlight: Chandra Gouldrup, The Farmer’s Daughter

March 20, 2025 – In honor of Women’s History Month, we decided to catch up with one of Meadow Walk’s top women entrepreneurs, Chandra Gouldrup, Head Chef and Owner of The Farmer’s Daughter. Chandra is a true trailblazer of the restaurant industry and knows what it takes to turn a dream into reality. Check out our Q&A with Chandra below:

What inspired you to start your own business?
I come from a family of hardworking, self-employed business owners, so that entrepreneurial spirit has always been in my roots. Once I found my passion in hospitality, I knew that if I wanted to truly succeed, I had to build something of my own. Restaurant life is demanding—the hours are long, and the work never really stops. If you’re going to put in that kind of effort, you have to love it, and for me, the best way to do that was to be my own boss and create something I truly believe in.

As a woman in business, what challenges have you faced, and how did you overcome them?
There’s only one of me, and that’s a daily struggle as a hands-on owner-operator. I can’t be everywhere at once, and as much as I want to grow, the hardest part is figuring out how to teach my vision to others. It’s a tough reality, but I’ve learned that surrounding myself with the right people, trusting my instincts, and staying true to my core values helps me navigate those challenges. It’s a constant work in progress.

What advice would you give to young women aspiring to become entrepreneurs?
You have to have passion for what you do—that’s something you can’t teach or learn; it’s what drives you to succeed. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. This is a lesson I’ve had to learn over and over again, but the truth is, you grow the most from your mistakes. So don’t give up—if you fail at something, it will only make you stronger.

Advisors Living Opens Sudbury Location

March 17, 2023: Advisors Living, the residential sales platform of Boston Realty Advisors, celebrated the grand opening of its new sales office at 526 Boston Post Rd.

“Sudbury over the last couple of decades has become such a great choice in Metrowest,” said Susan Tsantes, senior vice president and managing broker of Advisors Living, who oversees the office. “It is convenient if you’re working in Boston or going to the mountains to ski or going to the Cape.”

Advisors will work in Sudbury and surrounding communities, east to Boston and west to Worcester. This opening follows opening of a new office in Newton.

“I’m delighted to be working with the most talented Sudbury area agents from the town’s most prominent address,” said Merit McIntyre, chief executive officer of Advisors Living.

Sudbury is not only accessible, on Rtes. 117, 27, and 20 and located midway between I-I95 and I-495, but also has open and green spaces.

“It has lots of antique town and business buildings along with many historic residences that have been nicely preserved,” said Tsantes. “It feels like the quintessential New England town. All of that combined with award-winning schools makes this a terrific choice for us and our clients who are buying or selling homes.”

The new office is located in the popular Meadow Walk community, a National Development village retail center anchored by a Whole Foods Market grocery.  The in-demand restaurants there include Farmer’s Daughter, Paani, MicroCity Creamery, Oak Barrel Tavern and MooYah.

The community also has 250 luxury apartments, a 60-unit adult condominium residence complex, and a 48-unit assisted living community, connected by public spaces and a central green with walking paths open to the public.

More than 100 people attended yesterday afternoon’s Grand Opening celebration and ribbon-cutting, which featured tastings from local Sudbury restaurants.

Also in attendance with Tsantes and McIntyre were Jason S. Weissman, Founder and Senior Partner of Boston Realty Advisors; Wil Catlin, Managing Director and Senior Partner; Bill McIntyre, Chief Financial Officer; Janice Dumont, Chief Executive Officer for New Development Sales and Marketing of Advisors Living, and Mary Beth Canova, Director of Marketing for New Development.

Sudbury is now among 14 Advisors Living offices in the Greater Boston and southern Maine area.

The rapidly growing Advisors Living has opened new offices in Weston, Sudbury, Wellesley, Newton, Canton, Andover, Gloucester, Sherborn, Merrimac, and Cape Elizabeth, ME, adding to its existing Boston Back Bay, Boston Waterfront and Nantucket locations.  Others offices are planned.

October 3, 2022: Thank you to our tenants, town of Sudbury, and all our guests for participating in another successful Fall Fest! On Saturday, October 1st, despite some light drizzle, many came out to enjoy some fun family-friendly activities including musical entertainment, pumpkin decorating, face painting and more. Everyone enjoyed food samples from The Farmer’s Daughter, New City Microcreamery, Paani Indian Cuisine, Mooyah, Oak Barrel Tavern and Whole Foods Market. The kids were especially excited to check out a fire truck and police car, courtesy of the Sudbury Fire and Police Department. It was a wonderful day and we are grateful to be part of such a wonderful community as Sudbury.

At The Farmer’s Daughter in Sudbury, brunch is the main attraction

March, 25, 2021: The Farmer’s Daughter is a point of pride in Easton, where locals smugly explain where they live by referencing its proximity. Chandra Gouldrup opened the spot in 2013, focusing on food sourced from local farms, with an emphasis on brunch. Now, there’s a new location in Sudbury, whose most notable restaurant until recently was probably the Wayside Inn. Read more.
